BREMER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Jailer Opening

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of 2nd/3rd shift male Jailer. All applications must meet the minimum hiring standards set by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and are available on our website that is listed below. Pay range is $18.91-$24.72 per hour. Requirements for employment:
No person shall be recruited, selected or appointed to serve as a Jail Administrator or Jailer unless the person:

  1. Is 18 years of age or older.
  2. Is able to read and write in English.
  3. Is of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation including a fingerprint search conducted of local, state, and national fingerprint files.
  4. Is not by reason of conscience or belief opposed to the use of force, when appropriate or necessary to fulfill the person’s duties.
  5. Has the ability to perform the essential elements of the position as defined in department job specifications.
  6. Is an appropriate candidate for employment as demonstrated by qualified psychological screening.



BREMER COUNTY TREASURER’S OFFICE
Occasional/Temporary Clerk

Bremer County Treasurer’s Office seeks a qualified applicant for an occasional/temporary clerk. Applicant must possess excellent customer relation skills and be an effective communicator; must be able to maintain composure and interact with the public under stressful and interruptive situations. Applicant must be committed to providing quality customer service by working and communicating with customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. Must be detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and work independently.

Applicant must be able to learn and retain the numerous laws, regulations, and special procedures involved in processing property taxes, assessments and taxation, motor vehicle titles, registrations, and various official documents in an accurate and timely manner. Have the ability to collect the appropriate fees; process confidential information with tact and discretion; and acquire a working knowledge of driver’s license issuance.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; proficiency in Windows based applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel; data entry; and operating office equipment, with advanced work experience or education in accounting including accounts receivable and general ledger. Must have experience with cash handling

Some heavy lifting is required.

This is an occasional/temporary position, this position is not eligible for benefits.

BREMER COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
Laborer and Bridge Crew Laborer

The Bremer County Highway Department is seeking applicants to fill a Laborer and a Bridge Crew Laborer position. Applicants should have some knowledge of road maintenance and operating construction equipment. Successful applicant must possess a valid Class A CDL with air brake certification. The PHN is responsible for administering vaccines, communicable disease investigations, planning, foot cares, health promotion, and public health education. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school and currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa. Two years of experience in public health is preferred. 

Salary: $24.00-$30.00/hour
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 08:00-16:30 (up to 25 hours/week)

BREMER COUNTY SANITARY LANDFILL
Part-Time Assistant to Landfill Manager/Driver
Bremer County is accepting applications for the position of Landfill Assistant.  This is a part time position with flexible hours that vary according to demand.  This employee will work independently, or as part of a crew, operating but not limited to a hook truck, dump truck, wheel loader, farm tractor with three point mower and perform routine maintenance on the equipment, fences, buildings and grounds.  Also will include some scale house duties.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes, at least two years experience involving the operation of heavy equipment, ability to perform under adverse weather conditions and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and the public.

BREMER COUNTY COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES
Residential Specialists I & II
The Bremer County Community Based Services Department is seeking applicants for the positions of Residential Specialist I & II.  The Residential Specialist I & II provides support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, brain injuries, and mental illnesses within the community. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing transportation, supports to cook, clean, complete laundry, provide activity, medication delivery, monitor safety and health practices, money management, completion of necessary forms and reports, and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Program Supervisor.
