Part-Time Clerk

The Bremer County Assessor’s Office has an entry-level job opening for a part-time Office Clerk.  This position will provide office clerical support.

  • Must have excellent customer service and communications skills, including written, verbal, and listening and be able to follow oral and written instructions effectively. Communicate effectively and courteously.
  • Performs general clerical and office work proficiently and have good time management abilities. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business and technical procedures and government regulations.

Engineering Aide I

Bremer County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineering Aide I. Responsibilities include: construction inspection, assisting with construction and property surveys, drafting of technical drawings and plans via AutoCad, miscellaneous office and field duties. Inspection, surveying and drafting experience is preferred. Position requires an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent experience. Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license, and must have or be able to obtain certification as an Iowa DOT aggregate, asphalt cement concrete and portland cement concrete plant inspector. Physical ability to work outdoors under adverse conditions is necessary.

Office Clerk

Bremer County Treasurer’s Office seeks a qualified applicant for a full-time Office Clerk. Applicant must possess excellent customer relation skills and be an effective communicator; must be able to maintain composure and interact with the public under stressful and interruptive situations. Applicant must be committed to providing quality customer service by working and communicating with customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. Must be detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and work independently.

Applicant must be able to learn and retain the numerous laws, regulations, and special procedures involved in processing property taxes, assessments and taxation, motor vehicle titles, registrations, and various official documents in an accurate and timely manner. Have the ability to collect the appropriate fees; process confidential information with tact and discretion; and acquire a working knowledge of driver’s license issuance.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; proficiency in Windows based applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel; data entry; and operating office equipment, with advanced work experience or education in accounting including accounts receivable and general ledger. Must have experience with cash handling.

Some heavy lifting is required.

Seasonal Roadside Aide

Bremer County Roadside Vegetation Management is accepting applications for the Seasonal Roadside Vegetation Management Aide position. The Roadside Vegetation Management Aide will assist the Roadside Vegetation Manager with all aspects of managing roadside vegetation. This will include, but is not limited to: controlling noxious weeds, conducting prescribed burns, roadside mowing, managing and removal of roadside trees and brush, planting right-of-way vegetation, erosion control, maintenance of existing plantings and routine maintenance on department equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Successful candidate shall pass background check as well as a physical and drug screen. Ability to routinely lift 75 pounds and work in all weather conditions. Ability to operate and assist with the maintenance of various outdoor equipment. Possess or acquire a Category 6 Right-of-Way Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicators License within 30 days of hire.

Jailer Opening

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of 2nd/3rd shift male Jailer. All applications must meet the minimum hiring standards set by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and are available on our website that is listed below. Pay range is $18.91-$24.72 per hour. Part-Time Assistant to Landfill Manager/Driver
Bremer County is accepting applications for the position of Landfill Assistant.  This is a part time position with flexible hours that vary according to demand.  This employee will work independently, or as part of a crew, operating but not limited to a hook truck, dump truck, wheel loader, farm tractor with three point mower and perform routine maintenance on the equipment, fences, buildings and grounds.  Also will include some scale house duties.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes, at least two years' experience involving the operation of heavy equipment, ability to perform under adverse weather conditions and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and the public.
