COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Iowans age 65 and older can schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at select CVS,  HyVee and Walgreens storesThese stores are part of a Federal Retail Pharmacy Program operated by the Federal and State governments.

The Bremer County Health Department is coordinating the COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts in Bremer County, Iowa.  The vaccine supply in Bremer County and across Iowa is very limited.  As more vaccines become available from the State of Iowa, more individuals and groups will be offered the vaccine.

Right now, COVID-19 vaccines in Bremer County are available only for: Phase 1A and Phase 1B priority populations. 
***As of February 1, 2021, Phase 1B priority populations in Bremer County eligible to receive the COVID  vaccine include individuals 65 years of age and older AND first responders, PK-12 staff, early childhood education, and childcare workers.

If you are a healthcare worker as defined here, please send an email to the Bremer County Health Department at healthdept@co.bremer.ia.us.  Please indicate in the message your first and last name, place of employment, and your phone number.   A Bremer County vaccine partner will reach out to you when vaccines are available.

If you are 65 years and older, you will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine through your Bremer County based medical providers and pharmacy when they have vaccine available.  Your Bremer County medical clinic or pharmacy will contact you directly when there are vaccines available with instructions on how to schedule an appointment.

1B-Tier 1
If you fall into this tier, please email
healthdept@co.bremer.ia.us.  In the email please indicate whether you are a Bremer County first responder, PK-12 staff, early childhood education, or childcare worker. Provide your first and last name, and your phone number.  A Bremer County vaccine provider will reach out to you when vaccines are available.

1B Tier 2
COVID-19 vaccination guidelines for Tier 2 are available here
Bremer County does not have an anticipated start date for this tier at this time.


If you have general questions about the vaccine (unrelated to scheduling an appointment), call 211.  Resource specialists are available 24-hours a day to answer basic questions.  Call your health care provider with more specific questions to see if it is safe for you to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) can be found here.
